Russia was surprised that most Russian-speaking Azerbaijanis supported Azerbaijan rather than Russia.
For 3.5 years, Russia has been invading eastern Ukraine, where Russian-speaking Ukrainians live. There has been brave resistance to the invaders.

Israel started bombing Iran after a sharp drop in oil prices. High oil prices save Russia from collapse. Trump adores Putin.
But it is not only the Persian Gulf that provides a lot of cheap oil. Will the Gulf countries give up Iran or a piece of the oil market?
