It was obvious even to me; I wrote it before: Trump's election victory would at best leave Europe alone from Russian and Chinese aggression, and at worst Trump would form an alliance with them against Europe. It is a mystery why European politicians didn't understand this.

Trump isn't so stupid as not to understand: Russia started the war against Ukraine with the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and escalated it with a massive invasion in 2022. But he needs Russia to destroy Europe as a competitor. It will also destroy the US, but Trump doesn't care.

Trump is making America great again in a very interesting way—by turning it into China's doormat. This will put a lot of money in his pocket, and Musk's pocket will be even bigger. But for everyone else, from the super-rich to the welfare recipients, there will be sad days ahead.
